Customer Profiling » Competitors' Customers

Understanding competitors’ market share, transactions and customers enables the answering of difficult questions, such as whether competitors are all observing similar sales trends, where each competitor is outperforming or underperforming, and how to best appeal to different brand customers.

Examples of potential insights into competitors' customers include:

  • Identifying competitor strongholds: In which age, gender and postcode combinations is each competitor dominant in the industry, what types of customers are attracted to each competitor.
  • Exploring market opportunities: Highlight areas where competitors are a threat, and where there is an opportunity to take market share from them.
  • Benchmarking performance: Analyse each competitor’s performance by customer age, gender, income band, postcode etc and benchmark performance between competitors.
  • Understanding the behaviour of competitors' customers: Where else they shop, how often they purchase and how much do they spend.
  • Quantifying multiple brand relationships: Which customers buy from multiple competitors, if such customers buy more and how brand relationships vary.
  • Understanding customers' broader purchases: Identify the strong brand relationships each customer type has, to plan acquisition campaigns and joint initiatives.
